Things to Include in a Range Moodboard (That Most Beginners Miss)
Share
Moodboards seem simple, right? Paste a few pretty pictures and call it a day. But if your board isn’t helping you make decisions, it’s probably missing a few key pieces.
Here are five things your moodboard actually needs to guide your range.
1. A colour palette you can stick to
Don’t go overboard. Choose 4–7 colours max—and think in fabric, not filters.
2. Silhouette direction
Include 2–3 photos that reflect your intended shapes—wide legs, boxy fits, cropped proportions, etc.
3. Fabric/texture references
Use flatlays, zoom-ins, or swatches to visually cue texture.
4. Keywords
Write down a few guiding words like "utility," "elevated basics," or "youthful tailoring." This keeps things intentional.
5. A hero image
This should anchor your vibe. It sets the tone.
