How to Stay on Track During Development (Use Your Moodboard!)
Share
No matter how good your initial plan is, development throws curveballs. Fabrics become unavailable. Trims get cut. Costs shift.
So how do you stay on track?
Use your moodboard like a compass
If a fabric gets dropped, go back to your board. Find an alternative that keeps the same texture, colour, or feeling.
Revisit your vibe words
Your keywords are a filter. Every decision should pass through them.
Don’t let Pinterest creep in
It’s tempting to keep adding inspo mid-way through. Resist. Unless your concept truly pivots, stay the course.
Real-world example
One of our clients had to drop a print due to MOQ. Instead of starting over, she swapped it for a tonal stripe—keeping the softness and layering potential from her board.
